I also wanted to share a few things I’ve learned through my experience with my own mental health and issues I’ve faced over the past couple of years, in case it helps anyone. In my own personal experience, these things helped /2
- It’s ok not to be ok. And if you’re not ok, get some help. Asking for help is not weakness.
- Take life one day at a time.
- Try to live in the moment. When I’m too far in the future, I tend to get anxious. When I’m too far in the past, I tend to get depressed. /3
- Regardless of the question; suicide is never the answer. Anyone or anything that tells you that it is, is lying. Don’t listen to them/it.
- Prayer and meditation are MAJOR keys. Get connected.
- Go where you’re celebrated, not just tolerated. Don’t dim your light for anyone. /4
- What other people think of you is none of your business.
- Be accountable. And if you make a mistake, own it and keep your side of the street clean. /5
- Whatever external thing, substance, action, drink or behaviour you’re using to take you out of the moment you’re currently in, won’t work in the way internal work always will. And don’t be afraid to do that work - freedom never comes for free. /6
- Try to be of service to others.
- Practice gratitude. Daily!
