It's #worldmentalhealthday2020 #WorldMentalHealthDay

Six years ago I was diagnosed with #depression and #anxiety. I have been sharing my story with others, while openly struggling, and I wanted to share with you what I've found.
Businesses don't care about your #MentalHealth . Companies like @Waterstones will treat you like you don't exist or like your feelings don't matter, because to them they don't.

They will "keep you on record" with no real aim to considering you (isn't that right @ITVChase)
Celebrities don't care about your #MentalHealth .

Celebrities are the first ones to come out with #itsokaynottobeokay and #MentalHealthMatters but they really, honestly, don't care. They care about their own personal image and that's why they jump on these bandwagons.
If you're struggling with your job prospects and need an RT to promote your work, they would rather ignore you than help.

If you're having a bad day and just need somebody you admire to give you a word of encouragement, they will ignore you.
I can name loads of celebrities I've reached out to for the most miniscule of help (sometimes even just reassurance) and I've been ignored.

Because they don't care about the people beneath them.
And people let this happen by saying "they don't need to care" or "they're too important". Nobody is too important to care about people's struggle and everybody SHOULD care about everybody else.

Twitter caters to bullies and trolls and will not protect you or your #mentalhealth .

I've been harassed, bullied, dared to kill myself and somebody set up an entire Twitter account just to troll me (they even admitted that).

Twitter did nothing about any of these issues.
But, when I've talked about my previous suicidal feelings and self-harm issues I've been hit with suspensions and warnings.

Twitter would rather you harass somebody than talk openly about your own feelings and struggles and try to connect with others about it.
We care more about children than we do about adults. When children suffer we help them because things are "out of their control" or "they're not able to help themselves" but we presume all adults have the same capabilities and so look down on those that need help.
In some instances people will throw money at children to solve their problems (that don't require financial backing) but won't even acknowledge an adult struggling.

At what age do we stop caring for people?
I've had some support but in the grand scheme of things it's probably been 90% bad experiences to the 10% of support I receive and, frankly, that's not okay in the modern world.

We talk about how far we've come, but it's not far enough.
The treatments and diagnosis for #mentalhealth issues have waiting lists that can sometimes be a year or more. Some Doctors refuse to even acknowledge depression or anxiety as a thing (I've had that one before).
NHS therapy is beyond useless (12 sessions before you're supposed to be cured) and not everybody can afford private therapy. There's literally no other options given either, I've been referred to the same therapy place 7 times because it's "the only resource we have".
(Also note, I've been through five courses of NHS therapy, only one of which was helpful but after 12 sessions you get discharged and when you go back you can't see the same person because they're deemed to have failed if you're back because you're not cured).
Anonymous people on Twitter and social media WILL know what is best for you and if you don't take their advice then your not really suffering, you just want attention. Even if you've done their advice, you've probably done it wrong and should do it again.
I wish this could have been filled with stories of how supportive everybody has been and how much my situation has changed from day 1, but sadly this is the reality of dealing with #MentalHealth , #Depression and #Anxiety.
Should probably add that @mentalhealth don't care about your mental health either. They take money from companies who allow their employees and fans to bully and harass others for their mental health problems and see no issue with it.
They will also ignore you every time you bring this up because they know you're not important enough to make a difference so they'll just keep taking that money and being hypocritical.
And I suppose the funniest thing about all of this is that I'm actually NOT that important and so nobody will give a shit about anything I've said.
