I'm glad to hear that this year's #WorldMentalHealthDay has the theme #MentalHealthForAll because we know that healthcare is a human right!

As a socialist, I fully support healthcare, as a state provided service.

1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem in their lifetime.

Mental health services have always been the ‘Cinderella service’ and the first place to receive cuts when savings are needed.

Evidence shows that early intervention, prevents young people developing, a serious mental illness.

Without mental health, we have no health!

We need a society that is conducive to positive mental health.

Good housing, secure jobs with decent pay. All of this can lead to us having less stress, resulting in less impact to our mental health.

Mind also highlighted the additional impact to BAME communities, because of inequalities like housing, employment and financial precariousness.

Making it clear, some communities will be impacted far into the future, following this pandemic.

@UKLabour must fight to keep mental health on the political agenda, and build on our 2019 manifesto commitments to invest in mental health services, as well as reviewing the Mental Health Act!

As a NEC representative, I will fight for policies that give people power over their lives & communities, to redress the inequalities, we see in our society.

Putting people before profit!
