[1] New Zealand Freedom Rally Thread - 10/10/2020

Here is my attempt at citizen journalism, featuring non biased coverage of the Advance NZ freedom rally in Auckland today.

The rally attracted a variety of different groups.

There were 2 Chinese kiwi groups.

One group was chanting "end the CCP", carrying signs encouraging people to sign the petition.

I also attached a flyer they were handing out.
[3]
The second group carried signs saying "Aoteaora communism no more"

They also carried a banner saying "takedown the CCP, takedown the firewall"

As well as other signs which advocate for the rights for the people of Hong Kong
[4]
Here is the full banner & chanting "Take Down the CCP"
[5]
There was a group advocating for sovereignty.

As well as a small group of Hare Krishna's which handed out vegan cookies after the rally.

Overall there were people of many different ages, races, beliefs and faiths that came together for the march.
[6]
There were even some furry friends which joined in for the freedom march as well.
[7]
Here are some of the signs that were carried in the march.
[7]
Here are some pictures of the march down Queen Street
[8]
Here are some more pictures of the march and the crowd coming back to Aotea square for last words from the speakers...
[9]
Which included singing the New Zealand national anthem
[10] March Video Part 1

A woman said: "Wake up New Zealand, Save the Children"

The crowd chanted: "No More Lock Downs, Make Jacinda Go Away"
[11] March Video Part 2

More chants from the crowd:

"No More Control, No More Lockdowns, No More Masks"

"We are the People, We are the Power"

One man said: "This is for your freedoms, do your own research"
[12]
"Get Up Stand Up, Stand Up for your rights"

To my knowledge this was either the second or third largest attendance for these weekly marches.

The largest was the combined event of Advance NZ & the Liberty March group which had roughly 3,500 attend.
[13]
To my knowledge, no one has been arrested in all the weeks the marches have been going.

There was a mixture of police & wardens there primarily to stop traffic throughout the march route.

There was also an officer taking pictures of the protesters during the march.
[14]
There was merchandise for sale which included "Make Ardern Go Away" caps

As well as Rosa Koire's book "Behind the Green Mask"

(Couldn't get a better picture as there was a queue at the table every time I looked)
[15]
Overall the common themes discussed by the speakers & the slogans chanted from the peaceful protesters were advocating for rights & freedoms for all New Zealanders.
