when i was younger, i got bullied because i never knew how to behave like a “normal” child like everyone else. so when i started acting out from the pent up anger, i was sent to counselling and therapy. instead of understanding my emotions, i was taught to just deal with it
and see the thing about this was the fact that i was 10, a new transfer student in a new environment around brutal kids who couldn’t understand. so from young i was conditioned to just suck it up and that if anyone decided to pick on me, its my fault and to change myself
so as i grew up, none of the aggressors and bullies got punished for what they did but i just got more treatment and more counselling and more therapy to “fix my problem” and over the years obviously i learnt to just deal with it and recently i read this post
it said “children with differences spend hours and days and years learning to communicate and fit in, but why dont we teach other kids to communicate with them”? ya so thats led me to this thread and its especially true in an asian community where mental disability = FAILURE
i just wanted to tell yall that even tho you cant underatand this or think that im just exaggerating to get pity or whatever, just treat people with differences kindly. you never know what they’re struggling with anyway 🤷🏻‍♀️ life is hard so dont project your hurt on others yknow
