Okay so Dani became half lake lady after the lake event right and she felt the lady in the back of her soul?
So this is my theory

As the kids went away and forgot the past they started forgetting the lady and she didn’t want to be forgotten and as we saw in the B&W episode she is stubborn af
So by each memory of her that disappeared she took a bit more over Dani’s life.
That’s why when we are told the kids don’t remember her we are shown her reflection yet again. So it’s safe to say the Uncle forgot about it at some point.

You could say that point was either the day of the bathroom scene or the night Dani fought against the lake lady trying to kill Jamie 
So the theory part is:
Jamie goes to the wedding even thought the kids (now adults) don’t remember her, JUST to tell the story.
Bc she knows that if she can spark a memory of Dani and the Lake lady maybe just maybe both will come back to this existence again

AND that’s why during the last scene we see a hand on Jamie’s shoulder. Bc she did it she got Dani back
