When I say "White Jesus the Colonizer" I am less concerned with what he "actually" or "is supposed to" look like, and I am more concerned with the idols western civ. has erected in their depictions.

God made man in his own image, not the other way around.
So when I say "White Jesus," I am referencing the images that any Christian can readily recall that dominate Christiandom.

Fair-skinned, long flowing hair. It's a trope that is perpetuated in media as recent as The Chosen.
"But Jonathan Roumie isn't (exactly?) white," you may say or think.

Sure, but note that he's cast in The Chosen because his likeness easily conforms to the idol of White Jesus.
Go ahead and Google "Egyptian Man" in images and compare the hits.

Keep scrolling until you can find another who looks like Roumie.

No, don't do that, because you won't. He was hand-chosen in an effort to perpetuate the idol, and catch critics in a sort of "gotcha."
(Nothing against Roumie, personally. He's an actor. I support the arts. Get paid, man.)

"For (I) wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against a spiritual wickedness in high places."
That's Ephesians 6:12 for those following this thread.

Indeed, my battles are against ideologies. That's why when I'm not talking about faith, you see me say "white supremacy" more than "racist."

The target is the idea, the concept. Not its zealots.
"the Colonizer" aspect of White Jesus is rather simple—he's everywhere!

White Jesus the Colonizer can be found even in African and Asian churches. What a profoundly grotesque image of black and brown people worshipping who appears to be white when in reality, he was brown too!
Again, I'm not so much interested in "accurate Jesus" as I am the proliferation of *inaccurate Jesus*.

The only reason I would care about an "accurate Jesus" is for an image I can focus on when I pray.

Another image is a crucifix, but humans like human faces, lol.
So, brown people around the world worshipping not Jesus, but Constantine-era depictions of what an ideal God turned flesh would look like:

a white man?
Consider how, unlike other religions centered around Confucious, Muhammad, Buddha, etc. Mainstream—dare I say Imperial or Colonized Christianity—perpetuates the imagery of a God from the Middle East who looks like a The Bachelor contestant.
Wasn't he supposed to be a poor carpenter? Ain't no Head and Shoulders in biblical times, yall.
Even I am a fan of this image, because I like to think that Jesus laughed between his trips to and fro, just like anyone else hanging out with the boys (disciples).

But I have to keep in mind that this is also not him.
The pursuit of "accurate Jesus" could be argued to be idolatry, too. Thou shalt not make any graven image, remember?

I feel that God is graceful in this regard, though. Jesus took on flesh so that humanity could recognize him. It's fair, I think, to wonder what he looked like.
Just keep in mind that Jesus came down from heaven to earth looking like the majority population: BROWN.

Also born of an ethnicity that was subjugated to imperial powers: ROME.

If this doesn't sound familiar, yikes!

Please look around the US.
In another thread, I'll speak more about how White Jesus the Colonizer cherry-picks the Gospel in order to carry out a mission of corruption, greed, and oppression, not liberation, overflow, and holiness, but merely pretends to perform the work of the latter.
