I had to do some of my own stuff, so I won't be joining in on @Gamahdude92 podcast about blacktober. But I have decided after some thinking I will state my own big opinion on it and get all my thoughts out there after the last couple of days of this stuff. So this my own thread.
SO for starters let me say this, I do like the concept of it. Because this would be a good way for black artists to show off their art and people will see them more and support. But in my personal opinion and let me make sure people in the back hear it, this is my opinion.
I think it would be better, if the artists showed more of their on og content or show off establish black characters. Instead of just raceswapping characters. Because its kind of bad to me, that I see so many of that and not actual oc's or established black characters.
And before you say oh, "your trying to stop us from having fun or stop being whatever," I am not trying do that. If you want to do it, more power to you, but I am aloud to give my own input on the matter. Because guess what I have seen raceswaps that I actually like.
But still it would be good for these artists to go and show off their own content. Because what sucks is how if a black artists does a oc, get some likes, but if they do a raceswap 1000 of likes. Which sucks and to me says more about the people who won't like the oc art more.
Like why is that. And To me that might be why, there are so many more raceswaps flooding in, then ocs. Which to me personal, leads to the black artists that don't do that, not being seen as much. So it like if you want to be notice you have to do raceswap.
Which could be seen as a form of pressure. But hey, someone might have a better term. But let me get into my other issue about all this. The fact that this has lead to black people treating other black people like garbage for having their onw criticism about or their own thoughts
Because me and other black people have been called coons for, either not agreeing or just having a opinion on it. Also let me say this, coon is a slur. That has been turned into away for other black people to use on black people who don't agree on certain things or follow in line
So something that was used against black people have now been taken by black people to use against black people. Shit crazy man. Even seen a black person, tell someone else to get lynched. Like wtf man. You know if a white person said that, their would a be a crusade on them.
But since its a black person its ok. Like its not cool and your terrible person for that. So, all this has shown how black people have racism in their own community. Which was always a thing, but that a different story. So ya being called a coon in your own community is fun.
Let me also say this, both parties are shitty for this one. I get being annoyed with raceswapping, but don't be an asshole and go and change their art. And I mean actually fanart they put their time into. Because your not winning some battle, just look like an asshole to me.
Like its not cool. Ya they made a black deku, but don't go in there, take their actually art and change it. Doesn't help and adds more fuel to the fire. Same goes for other artists of other races, don't act like it doesn't happen.
Like for real though man all the bait and trolling is just as annoying as the people who get upset at the people who criticizes raceswapping. Like this blacktober thing could have turned into something nice, but pretty much became a shit show, of pick a side.
Like because people criticizes it, doesn't mean we are all trying to take your "fun a way," or they are racist. That feels like such a strawman statement or just buzz words.
Also for when this over, some of you black people better stop gatekeeping that white or other races can't make black characters. Because at that point people are aloud to say you can't make a white or asian character. As long as the person isn't being an asshole it fair game.
Because lets not forget two white dudes made black panther and a black dude help create the character Kyle Rayner green lantern. So ya, lets not start that shit. Because if you get made over stuff like that then your a hypocrite.
One more thing to add, if your going and saying there aren't that many black fictional characters, there are a ton. Just have to go out there and look. Could be a fun way to find new series or characters you might like. Like hell there are two black superman.
Don't see enough art of them. Kind of wish there was. Like I said go out and explore. Researching doesn't hurt or asking around. Because I have seen enough threads to see how many black people are in anime. There are alot more then some make it look like.
Like I have so much more I want to say, but I pretty much have lost most of my train of thought. So this thread is over. All I can say is, I just want October to end. Because this has been annoying.
This wasn't me trying to be mean or telling you to stop. Or even calling anyone out. This is just my opinion and how I have been feeling. I hope you all have a pleasant day. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
P.S. Stop calling other black people slurs, its gross and hypocritical.
