Raise your hand if COVID has made you feel disrespected, demoralised or frankly just done with your profession?
I don't know how to explain this but I LOVE nursing. It's absolutely in my blood, there is no other reason that I would have chosen to do this at 18. But the way we are being treated, bodies to treat bodies. I am genuinely, for the first time, unsure if I can continue.
As a profession I am severely worried about the workforce. As a floor ICU nurse I am confused as to why it is me worrying about this. The powers that be seem only worried about numbers of nurses available, not how those nurses are doing. We have all seen horrific mortality and
Are now seeing the effect of the morbidity it is that we inflict on these individuals. The powers that be seem only worried about the minimum amount of nurses that we seem to be able to send to the front line and not the wellbeing of those we are sending out there. I feel done.
I absolutely include HCSW/Physiotherapists/Pharmacists/Doctors/Dietitians/Occupational Therapists/Speech and Language Therapists/Domestics/Everyone that makes up the ICU/HDU/CCU MDT in this thread. This is for you.
