There's an alien culture that loves our concept of "television", but their understanding of the concept conflates it with "clairvoyance".

"All the world's a stage."

"Galaxy Quest" seems more and more relevant.

And I'm reminded of Deep Thought watching cartoons on Hitchhiker's Guide.

The aliens say that if the government/private sector are more forthcoming about surveillance of the population, they'll be more forthcoming about their surveillance of humanity and manipulation in our affairs.

This culture would be amused if humanity blew our planet up, but then sad that there's no more TV.

I don't believe these are 3-dimentional beings, or what we would consider corporeal.
