I just like to remind everyone there are developers out there that don't know they are developers.
Wizards of WYSIWYG.
Excel aficionados.
Divas of drag and drop.
They know just enough to be powerful. Just enough to do what they need to get done.

They write macros developers would never dream of.

Because they are solving a problem and glued enough bits together to make it work.
And whenever I work with these wonderful people, I learn their workflows. I learn their tools.

Because it is easier to convince them that they are developers, if I know how they work.
I can help them optimize, I can get them better resources, I help them see the developer skills they already have.

I translate the elite IT speak into something close to what they know.
They are forgotten, ignored, or made fun of.

Their tools are butts of jokes for decades.

No wonder they don't think of themselves as developers, they have been kept out.
And WE developers are missing out.

Infrastructure groups are missing a HUGE piece that runs the day to day business.

Important IT security concepts are not trickling down to these amazing wizards.

Because we overlook them.
I know I do this thread like this at least once a year.

But it is important.
I know I think about it every time I open Dreamweaver.
