This is a thread that will compare @Thomaspartey22 to some of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League. This thread took me pretty long to make and is my 1st analysis thread. Likes and retweets always appreciated.
On October 5th, 2020 Arsenal officially completed the signing of long term target Thomas Partey. The defensive midfielder completed signed a long term contract to join Arsenal. Many expect him to bring physicality and balance to the Arsenal midfield, that to some he has been-
labeled as our Patrick Vieira replacement. In this thread, I will be comparing Thomas Partey to some of the best defensive midfielders in the league to give a sense of what he will bring to the gunners.
1) Thomas Partey vs Fabinho 19/20 stats.
As you can see Thomas Partey is much better at things like dribbling and passing than Fabinho, as he had a 84.6% dribble success compared to Fabinho's 82.4% dribble success the whole of last season. Adding on to that, Partey completes about 1.8 dribbles per game while Fabinho...
completes about 0.49 dribbles per game. Now looking at the passing stats Partey makes 6.69 passes into the final third per game and an 83.4% pass completion. Fabinho makes 6.01 passes into the final third per game and has an 87.8% pass completion. Showing Partey much better going
forward. Now how about defensively? Well Partey is dribbled past less than Fabinho, but makes less interceptions per game than Fabinho. Fabinho also makes more successful tackles per 90 (5.55) when compared to Partey (2.20). Now onto Rodri.
2) Thomas Partey vs Rodrigo. 19/20 stats.
This time I will start off with the defensive stats. Thomas Partey makes about 1.93 less successful tackles per 90 than Rodrigo who makes 3.66 tackles per 90. When we look at interceptions Rodrigo is better (1.73 per 90) compared to Partey's 1.59 interceptions per 90.
Partey is dribbled past less (37.2% dribbled past) than Rodrigo every game on average (40.7%). In the final third Rodrigo makes more passes per 90 (8.81) and Partey makes less per 90(6.69). However looking at the dribbles per game Partey is better.
Not only that but Partey is better at creating turnover(counter attacks) per 90. Now onto the last midfielder.
3) Thomas Partey vs Thiago Alcantra. 19/20 stats.
Defensively Thiago is better overall as he makes more interceptions per 90, tackles per 90, and is dribbled past less. Thiago also has better stats offensively since he makes more passes into the final 1/3, has a better pass completion %, and is better at dribbling. This is
happening because Thiago plays for a better team (Bayern Munich) than Thomas Partey's Atletico Madrid.
End of thread. Hopefully you have enjoyed this thread and as always likes + retweets will be greatly appreciated. Have a great day and take care.
