#GoStars Media Zoom with Jim Nill and Anton Khudobin:

• Anton said a 3-year term for his contract was very important to him, along with going to a team that has a chance to win. He didn't want to go somewhere just for the most money.

• Dobby's best line came as he was describing the numbness in two of his fingers on his right hand (which affected both holding his stick and his stickhandling), he then made sure not to sound as though he as complaining "I still have three other fingers."

• Khudobin made it clear that he wanted to stay in Dallas. He said when he began his career he would've liked to remain with one team for his entire pro career and quipped "obviously that didn't happen."

• Dobby listed a bunch of reasons why his prior knowledge of living in Dallas is a plus for staying here (along with his belief that this team can contend for a Cup): knowing driving directions, where good restaurants are, etc. - so he doesn't have to learn all of that again.

• Jim Nill repeated what he said yesterday, that his attention will now be on getting his 3 RFAs (Faksa, Hintz & Gurianov) re-signed. Faksa's takes priority because they want to avoid having to go to arbitration (Faksa is arbitration eligible this year).

• I asked Nill about his overall impressions of Free Agency Day 1 thus far and he said there was a real run on the goaltender position, expects the next focus for teams to go after the big defensemen and forwards on the market. Then he thinks things might calm down a lot...

...Nill opined that free agency could stretch out 3-4 weeks this year due to the flat salary cap and the issues surrounding the pandemic.

• Nill was asked about the AHL season, especially with the ECHL announcing an unorthodox plan earlier today. He said the AHL season will not start before the NHL season, which makes sense, but also very interesting.

• Nill was asked about the future of developing Jake Oettinger and getting him eventually on the NHL roster, especially with Bishop & Khudobin both with 3 years left on their current deals. Nill said they would deal with that down the road, evaluating each year...

...Remember there is the Seattle Expansion Draft next summer and the Stars will not be able to protect both Bishop and Khudobin (Oettinger will still be on his ELC and won't be eligible for selection by Seattle).
