Today's COVID-19 dashboard shows 766 confirmed cases of #COVID19 and 17,916 tests reported to the state system today --an unusually large number. We wanted to make sure you have the full context to better understand today's numbers...

State officials have identified a new laboratory – called SANDS Inc – that is now reporting into the State system. That new lab accounts for a large percentage of the labs reported today. Today’s numbers also include a number of results reported related to testing within the NFL.

A DHHS examination of the labs reported today shows that many of the specimens were collected within the last week, although a number of the specimen collection dates go back into mid-September.

Labs are expected to report results to the State’s electronic reporting system within 24 hours. DPBH is currently working with the reporting labs to determine the cause of the delay in reporting in order to determine what corrective actions should be taken.

Additionally, a large volume of labs were received yesterday in association with the State’s ongoing testing efforts in the Nevada Department of Corrections.

The State continues to urge Nevadans who may have been exposed to COVID-19 to seek a test. The Nevada Health Response Center maintains a testing locator map online at http://NVHealthResponse.nv.gov .
