My dear friend has been moved from hospital, without consultation, to a care home where she can only have one weekly visit from one designated visitor for 20 minutes once a week. This will be her nephew who is NOK but remote

This means that although I am going on 200 mile round trip to take her belongings I was told I could not visit her. Even in the garden.

Finally I was told if I ring the bell they will bring her to the other side but I cannot talk to her. Just wave at her. This is my dear friend of 40 years. This is utter cruelty. I came off the phone and wept #COVID19 #carehomes @JohnCampaign

In hospital she could have one visitor at a time for a booked visit each day. Is it really necessary for care homes to be so restrictive now they have learned about infection prevention & have PPE? Are we doing the right thing imprisoning our elderly in care homes? @JohnCampaign
