Just been to see the Lee Green LTN in Lewisham. First Rosamund Kissi-Debrah showed me the worrying way traffic backs up on Hither Green Lane and Springbank Rd. I think any tweaks to the LTN, should start with a bus gate for Hither Green Lane and an LTN for Hither Green too.
And @lewicyclists @lewishampedest1 met me in the Lee Green LTN to explain how the scheme came about. Several residents joined us to talk about how it has transformed their streets and school run with lots more walking, cycling, wheel chairing, jogging and scooting & no ratruns.
I fully understand why people on the edge of an LTN may feel left out. Funding should be available for these to be installed in neighbourhoods across boroughs throughout London. If you are going to install an LTN make sure the boundary roads are main roads which should be 20mph.
And finally I always think about people walking. The government need to sort out TfL’s long term funding so simple things like this puddle at a crossing can be resolved (before it ices up over winter causing slips and falls).
