Here in Utah, Social Security is the only source of retirement income for 42% of retired Utah women. The @UtahTreasurer has brought women together today at a virtual event to learn about money. @UTWITM #WITM2020
Our Chief Advocacy Officer, @Jane_Barratt is speaking at the event today along with @JessEndWink of @NextGenPF and Jared Davidove of @IntuitEducation. Encouraging women to use digital banking to track their financial progress. @UTWITM #WITM2020
My personal finance foundation started with my parents. They taught us a great lesson "you can do whatever you want to do in life, as long as you can figure out how to pay for it yourself." - @Jane_Barratt at @UTWITM #WITM2020
“When stimulus checks came out, at MX we saw an 8x increase in digital banking engagement.” @Jane_Barratt at @UTWITM #WITM2020
“Talking about apps is a good way to start the taboo conversation of finance with family and friends.” - @Jane_Barratt at @UTWITM #WITM2020
Overwhelmed with digital banking?

"To get started with digital banking, start with your bank. Start with the tools they have available." - @Jane_Barratt @UTWITM #WITM2020
"A huge volume of apps that are downloaded are used once and not ever again. Don’t give up if the first personal finance app you try isn’t for you." - @Jane_Barratt @UTWITM #WITM2020
"The lessons we learned growing up about money end up staying with us through adulthood. If we’re taught to fear money, we do. If we’re taught to charge it and pay later, we keep that with us. No app in the world can undo this." - @Jane_Barratt #WITM2020
It's natural for kids to ask "so how much money do we have?"

As a parent, you have to be ok w/ the fact that everyone in the world has either more or less money than you. Be ok with where you are & don’t compare yourself to others. The comparison part leads to bad behaviors.
Investments, where to start?

"Bring investing into your everyday life with digital apps - that is a good way to start to see your money grow." - @Jane_Barratt
"I always recommend that even if you have no money and a lot of debt and you think you're so far from starting to invest, create a virtual portfolio. You can learn what it feels like to work in the market." @Jane_Barratt
"Investing is a lifelong journey and it doesn’t matter if you’re starting at 60. It’s worth the investment and time to educate yourself." @Jane_Barratt @UTWITM
