About to start The Haunting of Bly Manor. I loved Hill House (outside of the second and final episodes). So let’s fucking goooooo
Well, that was good. But, nowhere near as scary as the first season. More emotions that felt and real and less manufactured though. Real sadness. Far less predictable too. It’s hard to compare them overall though. More I preferred here but loads I preferred in the last season too
Without spoiling it: A big problem with the horror in it was they try to scare the audience with things after they are revealed. It is no longer scary to the audience as it is the character, and creates a massive disconnect. Then all the scary sounds and camera work become cheap.
All the themes were good. Some of the dialogue was forced with speeches, but that’s an ongoing issue. Helps that the main character is relatable to anyone. But it just wasn’t scary compared to the first one. I still think it was mostly better in areas. Just not full of spookies.
