#HoodooHeritageMonth Day 9

Several Hoodoo practices & beliefs were retained thru things Afro-Americans consider “taboo,” “good luck,” or “spiritual” in nature.

Westerners call it “superstition” but we had reasons for all of them.

Tell us about one that you grew up on!
Growing up (and still today) during family gatherings in my Aunt Stella’s house:

If the back door flew open randomly, my folks would yell out in unison, “Hey Greg!”

If there was an unexplainable sound down the hallway, they’d yell “Hey Heather!”

Greg & Heather both dead 🤣
Idk what made the back door Greg but Heather’s room was @ the end of the hall. When I lived in that house, I heard Heather back there all the time. Had a friend over once & she was like “um I think there’s something in your hallway?” I’m like “yeah that’s just my cousin Heather.”
