I'm about the ignore progressive purity and talk about political pragmatism. As a democrat, particularly in this political climate, it's good to be wary of folks urging you to vote Republican. And there are precious few instances where I would recommend voting Republican (1/)
instead of Democrat. However, District 15 is one of those races. Is @BarbaraAnnRI a Republican? Yes. Should we as Progressives still help her win? I believe yes. The speaker isn't just a "democrat," he's the most powerful and corrupt democrat in the state. He is currently (2/)
embroiled in multiple scandals from laundering campaign money to giving away millions of taxpayer dollars to his friends. If we want to see real reform and change, we need to be able to recognize when the purity test is no longer pragmatic. We aren't going to find a magical (3/)
Cranston progressive to oust this speaker. We need to meet the voters where they are. Is @BarbaraAnnRI going to be our new social justice ally? Probably not. But I can almost guarantee that she will side with her caucus in favor of rules reform and that is a HUGE deal. If we (4/)
really want to see change, we need to put our efforts where they will make the most impact. I'm urging anyone with free time to make calls for @BarbaraAnnRI: not because she's the Democratic dream candidate, but rather, because she's the solution to our DINO nightmare. We (5/)
need to be ok with having an extra republican if it means getting rid of a truly dismal, dictator-like democrat. VOTE FENTON FUNG (6/6)
