"I will build my church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it." Jesus, AD 30

1. Who does Jesus think he is?

Apparently a penniless preacher en route to a shameful and early death will build a kingdom that outlasts all others on earth and overcome all powers below.
>
But the really crazy thing is — turns out he was right.

2. Who does the church think she is?

Unfortunately she thinks of herself as an embattled citadel, guarding the ramparts, hoping the forces of darkness can be kept at bay. But that only shows we don't listen to our Lord.

>
Jesus does not speak of our gates. He speaks of hell's gates. And gates do not advance. We do. We are an unstoppable force, plundering Satan's house, overwhelming darkness with light and hatred with love.

Find this hard to believe? Well think how much further the work has progressed since AD 30. The Lord who got us this far will not turn back.
