Just a fun story that happened to me and a question I'd like to answer :

A shady chinese brand offered me to pay only 8€ for a 500 Go external HDD.
Well, why not ? I buy it. I receive it, it works (surprisingly) well.
But then I think : "Let's dig for deleted files"

So I use a Windows tool to recover those deleted files and ... I found a full bootable partition, with all the files, including Firefox's passwords.

It seems that this hdd used to belong to K12 school in Missouri and somehow ended up in the hands of this chinese company

So now, the question is :

How the hell did a hard drive that used to belong to an american school ended up in an external hard drive sold by a shady chinese comany ?

As someone told me on Discord :
Drill your HDD before throwing them away.

Also, I'm now tempted to buy more, just to see what I can find inside.
