10 yrs ago, @OSFJustice released a rpt on @policeNG under the title #CriminalForce. I worked on that. It detailed a culture of wasting human life under a chapter titled "A Human Abbatoir". Despite our best efforts with @policereformNG, few ppl took notice. We're still in #EndSARS

In its 2008 rpt, the MD Yusuf Presidential Commission on Police Reform wrote that @PoliceNG was byword for “unlawful arrest & detention, extortion, torture, rape, #EJKs & other forms of brutality."

That report is still on the shelves of the SGF. We are still stuck on #EndSARS

In 2005, #AccesstoJustice, reported: "The use of violence is an important aspect of the self-image of @policeNG. Officers see themselves as agents of violence & consider application of violence & force on slightest provocation as fulfillment of their social essence." #EndSARS

In 2006, the Danmadami Presidential Commission said @policeNG had “a v large no of unqualified, under-trained & ill-equipped officers & men, many of whose suitability to wear the respected uniform of the Force is in doubt.” In 2008, MD Yusuf said it has “undesirable workforce.”

On 1 Nov, 1990, a squadron of @PoliceNG Mobile Force #PMF, invaded Umechem, an oil-bearing village in Etche LGA, Rivers State at the instance of @Shell & slaughtered everything & everyone in sight. #UmuchemMassacre was 30 yrs ago. We're still on #EndSARS

The yr after #UmuechemMassacre, in May 1991, @PoliceNG invaded a family home in Oko-Oba, Lagos, & slaughtered 8 members, including a dad, mum & their children. I was lawyer in that case. @NigeriaGov eventually settled for N10m then. #OkoObaMassacre it was. Still we're on EndSARS

Between 2006-2012, there were 3 Presidential Commissions to investigate @policeNG headed respectively by DIG Muhammadu Danmadami (2006), IGP MD Yusuf (2008), DIG Parry Osayande (2012). The Uwais Panel (2008) also investigated the mis-conduct of @policeNG in Elections. Yet...
