I think about this statement by @bellhooks at LOT:
"...I came to theory because I was hurting-the pain within me was so instense that I could not go on living. I came to theory desperate, wanting to comprehend-to grasp what was happening around and within me...."
"...I came to theory because I was hurting-the pain within me was so instense that I could not go on living. I came to theory desperate, wanting to comprehend-to grasp what was happening around and within me...."
"...Most importantly, I wanted to make the hurt go away. I saw in theory then a location for healing.
I came to theory young, when I was still a child."

It was only when I moved to London that I realised that Britain's White (Imperial) Feminism
held theory in a visceral disgust.

It took even longer to realise why. What is Liberatory for bell hooks (and for me) is a threat to White (Imperial) Feminists
because it threatens their power adjacency to imperial capitalist white supremacist cisheteropatriarchy

Thankfully there are MANY feminists in Britain who do not subscribe to White (Imperial) Feminism
(although most are erased by the UK mediascape. And amongst them, I find my theory-loving sisterhood
