To all tourists:

If you feel offended by the suggestion that you should not travel to Wales during a global pandemic, are you also offended that you’re not allowed to most countries abroad too?

We have nothing against tourists, I’m glad that you can share the beauty… (1)

…that Wales has with us, the Welsh. However, is it too much to ask that you do not travel to our country during a pandemic? Many areas can just not handle an influx of patients. There are areas in mid Wales that only have 16 ICU beds for the entire area… (2)

…so they really can’t handle thousands of tourists also. However, if you decide to ignore all forms of common sense and do travel here, don’t be a prick. Yes signs are bilingual, don’t visit if you don’t like our language. Yes Yr Wyddfa is steep and cold… (3)

…don’t scale it if you don’t have apt experience or equipment. Don’t use it as a bin, a toilet or just a family day out. You don’t have to pay to climb it so everything you do to negatively impact it costs us much more than any money that you happen to spend whilst here. (4)

There are probably places in your own city you haven’t been, explore there where you’re a part of the populous that your hospital covers. It isn’t an attack on you, but rather an attack on Westminster for their consistent lack of critical thinking…. (5)

…if you don’t want to visit Wales because you’ve been told to fuck off, then don’t. You’re making lives harder for those of us that live in rural areas. Respect our rules, respect our nature, respect our language, respect us. I know it’s not all tourists that are dumb… (6)

…but imagine you’re walking down a street and the majority of the people you pass do nothing, but every so often you get punched in the face and spat on. The majority of the people were sound, but the few dickheads ruined your day. Now imagine it in its thousands… (7)

… we KNOW that the majority of the tourists are respectful, but when the bottom of Yr Wyddfa is covered in human waste and rubbish from the minority, it’s still enough to ruin the beauty of the mountain and its surrounding area. All we’re asking for is respect and common… (8)

…sense. If that’s too much to ask for then please just leave us alone. We aren’t a big Butlins for you to come to just because you’re bored of your concrete jungle. You’re not going to be treated like royalty because you’re a tourist. You’ll be treated as you treat others. (9)
