STANLEY KUBRICK: UNREALIZED PROJECTS 4

STANLEY KUBRICK was a brilliant director. He released some of the best movies in history, but he also scraped other projects. In 1969 #JohnLennon made him an offer he refused.

This is the story of KUBRICK's THE LORD OF THE RINGS.

In 1969, J. R. R. TOLKIEN sold the film rights of LORD OF THE RINGS to United Artists.

The rock band THE BEATLES considered bringing the story to the big-screen and approached STANLEY KUBRICK as a potential director.

STANLEY KUBRICK wasn't interested in the project. LEON VITALI, Kubrick's right hand man explained it in an interview: 

“But it didn’t get very, very far at all. It was just an exchange of information and people were interested in doing it. But Stanley wasn’t.”

As you know, back in 2000' PETER JACKSON directed the epic high fantasy trilogy THE LORD OF THE RINGS.

Applauded by audience and critics, THE LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy became a product with a very different point of view and without STANLEY KUBRICK and THE BEATLES.
