IPL fan base honest description (A thread):

1. CSK: Those people who support CSK because they are either from Chennai or other parts of Tamil Nadu are genuine and loyal fans, as CSK is their home team. Some people have developed a liking for CSK because of their consistent #CSK
..performances over the years and their expressive style of play, they too are loyal to CSK. Lastly, the ones who r simply Dhoni and Raina supporters and are quick to change sides when CSK doesn't perform and can stop supporting CSK, when Dhoni and Raina leave, the plastic fans.
But all in all CSK have a strong, loyal and passionate fan base, having a pan-india reach. Also arguably the best fan base in IPL.
2.MI: again a loyal fan base and Pan-India approach just like CSK. Most of the fans are from Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra. Some people initially supported MI because of Sachin, but the popularity of MI increased multifolds after Rohit Sharma was introduced as captain #MI
and he won the first IPL trophy for MI in 2013. MI became the most successful team in IPL history in subsequent years, giving a boost to its popularity. Association of MI with big names over the years is a major reason why they have been consistent on the field and it also helped
them to increase their brand value and their fan base as well. Like CSK, it will be interesting to watch their fans continue supporting them when the golden generation fades away, which is anyway not gonna happen anytime soon.
3. RCB: Strong fan base mostly based in Bengaluru and parts of Karnataka and South India. People assume RCB fans to be equivalent to Virat fans, but it is a matter of debate. People in Bangalore are passionate and die hard fans of RCB, my view is supported by the fact that #RCB
RCB have definitely not been consistent and successful over the years, yet their fans have increased, precisely because of their aggressive style of play and some big stars in their team. They have provide the required entertainment quotient in this league over the years..
But it is true that a big chunk of RCB fans are Virat, ADB fans and they may lose a lot of fan base when these two superstars leave.
4. KKR : They definitely have much more online followers than RCB, but I rate them below RCB in this thread simply because they may have a really big and strong fan base. But i doubt the loyalty of KKR fans, because tbh KKR fans are a composition of SRK fans and people from #KKR
Bengal, with the former being the dominant part. What I feel is most of the KKR fans don't support the team because of their cricket, players, or their success in IPL they just support KKR because of SRK, which is definitely not a sign of a passionate fan base. But the success of
KKR has contributed in increasing its brand value and popularity, initially KKR fans were not happy with the team's performance and it was definitely affecting the brand in a negative way. But after appointing Gautam as their captain in 2011, their fortunes have changed for good.
Descriptions of the fan base of other 4 teams ( including our beloved RR ) coming soon.....
