Not retweeting it because it doesn't need more eyes, but the thread with the photos of the Michigan terrorist's yard: there's a group of people who will read that and based on the photos, and their own lack of experience with poverty, think it all sounds fairly reasonable.
People who've actually experienced poverty and who lived with or near yards like this, see this thread for what it is. A long-winded excuse for white male extremism mixed with a significant amount of misogyny and agitated by people who know how to use others.
There are a million impacts from growing up in or living through poverty. It does change the way you think, it impacts your character and your logic. It affects your perspective on the life and the world around you.
But if you're going to attempt to explain white male attempts or acts of terrorism with poverty, you're taking a large leap over all the other direct causes and active choices made by these people.
In my experience, being poor doesn't radicalize people to intentionally harm others, it radicalizes them toward doing good where they can, to helping each other when they can, to building communities of support however they can.
