It’s fifteen minutes before sunrise and I’m on my way. Off to the site of the old Yankee Stadium, where my two-day, two-marathon walk to raise money for the American Cancer Society will officially begin. #StandUpToCancer @SU2C
First stop of the day is Heritage Field, which was where the old Yankee Stadium used to be. For all you kids out there, you can play on the same field that many Hall of Famers played on.

Second stop on my two-day, two-marathon walk is the current Yankee Stadium. I’ve been inside 23 major league stadiums and believe it or not, this isn’t one of them. I must be a bitter #Mets fan or something.

Yup, I’m definitely a bitter #Mets fan. #StandUpToCancer @SU2C
Crossing the Harlem River with the Polo Grounds Towers in the distance. #StandUpToCancer @SU2C
Third stop on my walk: Hilltop Park, where the Yankees (when they were known as the Highlanders) played baseball from 1903-1912. The video depicts where Hilltop Park’s home plate used to be. Now this is all part of New York Presbyterian Hospital. #StandUpToCancer @SU2C
Here is a photo at the location of Hilltop Park’s home plate. #StandUpToCancer @SU2C
A quick stop at the John T. Brush Stairway before making my way down Coogan’s Bluff to where the second, third and fourth Polo Grounds used to be. (Yes, there were four. More on that in a later video.)
#StandUpToCancer @SU2C
At the location of Polo Grounds II, III and IV. Here’s a quick history lesson on why there were three Polo Grounds at this location. Next place I’ll be walking to from here will be the site of the first Polo Grounds.
#StandUpToCancer @SU2C
This sign at the entrance of the Polo Grounds Towers mentions that it’s the former home of the New York Giants.
#StandUpToCancer @SU2C
Five miles in. Still going strong.

I’m at the site of the original Polo Grounds (just north of Central Park), which housed multiple baseball teams - including the NY Giants - until it was torn down in 1888 so that Manhattan’s street grid could continue past 110 St.
The video explains it all.

Time for a little “outdoor dining.”
You didn’t think I was going to complete this walk on an empty stomach, did you?
