If it helps anyone starting out, here’s the rest of that email which had my CV and two pieces of writing attached. One was about paranormal investigation tech and the other was on MH in games. The idea was to show my breadth (my portfolio was made of both games & non-games stuff)
Here’s the CV I attached at the time too. If that helps. Nowadays I would suggest keeping a CV to one page.
One page isn’t always possible (haven’t followed my own advice here) but keep what’s relevant and try not to waffle. Here’s the most recent version of my CV (from last year)
If I was to revise this CV, I would remove the experience section as my employment now reflects how much experience I have - and that is arguably more important. Other information can be spoke about in an interview - you just want to show at this point that you have the skills.
My personal advice for any games media writer/journalist job is to focus on your writing and journalism skills.
