Thread 2 on the Police:
1. Let us talk about how the @PoliceNG has become a degraded force over the years.
2. The Police formation has specialised divisions-Robbery, Fraud, CID, Mobile Force (kill and go. In Lagos Area we have the Force CID Panti, Force CID Alagbon. Wow!/
3. No one who has practised law seriously would not give respect to these 2 stations for crime investigations in the 80s to early 90s. Murder, fraud etc were investigated in those two stations. Then you had the Adeniji Adele -specialist in robbery cases. Lions Building. Policing/
4. was serious business in those days. I witnessed the intelligence and professionalism of our Police when I had a case of Police misbehaviour in 1993 when 2 students of Ekpoma Uni were killed by the Mobile force men and they tried to cover it up. We petitioned the IG who /
5. referred the case to Alagbon. We left Lagos at 9pm for Benin (I went along). Within 2 days the officers were rounded up. Let me tell you how efficient the Police is when they want to work. The CoP in Benin was "forming" importance, the SP who led our team disciplined him./
6. Nowadays, you hardly find fine officers who know their onions and powers. You find joint corrupt men who have no right by conscience to discipline anyone because they all eat from the same bowl of perfidy. /
7. Everyone looks to the @officialEFCC for every monetary fraud, whereas Panti and Alagbon and Lions Building, Zone 2 and Zone 1 are still there? The Police have forgotten that fraud is their function, the citizens report 20M fraud to EFCC. Everything is out of order and sync/
8. The citizens are so so complicit. You enter into a contract & someone fails their part and you invite the Police into a purely civil matter. Lawyers are disasters as well for using the Police as first port of call in dispute resolution on a civil matter. It is an abuse of law/
9. Yet we all do this. We have so corrupted the Police that they don't even know what their function truly is. A murder occurs or a manslaughter and the Police will allow the family to start discussing payment of burial expenses by the family of the killer-what madness?
10. We are so corrupt that we end up wanting to settle every thing. Crime is an injury to the society and not to the victim's family. A person who is dead is the victim, You cannot negotiate your way out of taking a life. We have a lot of re-orientation to do in Nigeria. /
11. Sometimes, I am thankful to God that I have lived a greater number of my life already. Nigeria can tire one out mentally, physically and spiritually. Everything is so tupsy turvy. May God avail. Now I am going into hibernation. I need to work I beg
