1. Dear @MBuhari @NGRPresident @ProfOsinbajo it appears nobody is listening upstairs. Too many of your aides on here & offline but I am not not sure they are really gauging the mood of the people & reporting accurately what is going on. I am guessing some are saying 'its just
2. miscreants or its the opposition/haters. While the police are lying to themselves that it's criminals using social media to try stopping them from doing their work'. I will start by quoting a proverb 'its one finger that gets the oil that stains the entire hand.' A simple
3. peaceful protest can start an inferno that will be hard to put out. You doubt it? Remember George Floyd? Protests started May 26 2020, it's 4 months now & some weeks with close to half of the United States involved in one protest or another. How many killed so far? Over 100k
4. arrested so far with property/businesses valued over $500m destroyed/looted! You see the picture I am trying to paint? We can still forestall such happening here. We have seen protesters & police get injured or even killed like @PoliceNG is claiming happened at Ughelli.
5. We have also read the IG of @PoliceNG threaten to use force on protesters, keep these at the back of your minds: wearing riot gear or using tear gas on protesters, sending armed troops to surround protesters, smashing camps or towing vehicles NEVER WORKS! If you doubt it, ask
6. the United States of America! Its over 4 months of nonstop demonstrations, in fact full blown out riots! Disproportionate police force is one of the things that can make a peaceful protest turn into a bloody one! What we are seeing are citizens expressing pent-up anger against
7. horrible criminal minded police tactics. This is the time to get police experts in conflict resolution, negotiators, people with a calming effect to talk to the crowd. This is the time people need to see reforms not by word of mouth but by sacking men & heads. This is
8. the time people need to see police barracks being renovated, salaries of officers & men being reviewed upwards. This is the time we need to see an auditing of the entire @PoliceNG people who aren't meant to wear the uniform dropped. This is the time to see both lower & upper
9. cadre go for different courses to make them better cops & not sit at a position for years on end without adding anything to what they were taught at the academy. This is the time to make it clear that an officer no matter the rank caught extorting funds from a civilian even if
10. the person is a crook, the cop will be publicly dealt with. This is the time to make it mandatory that you can't keep someone for more than 24-48hrs without charging the person to court. This is the time to make sure our judiciary do not keep people 'awaiting trial'
11. indefinitely. This is the time to review cases of those convicted already & those left to rot in different cells all over the country! You will be shocked that close to 50% or more people held by @PoliceNG or in prisons are people who just couldn't pay! If you do not start
12. these things & more today, if you think using brute force is the way to suppress the angry mob, I will bet you that hoodlums, everyone who has one grievance or the other will take to the streets under the guise of protest against police brutality & we will be dealing with
13. the fallout for months! Do not forget the power of social media; the more pictures & videos of wounded/abused people keep showing up the more angry people become. @MBuhari @NGRSenate @NGRPresident @ProfOsinbajo THE TIME TO ACT WAS YESTERDAY!
