actually no, we’re doing this, let’s break this tweet down. if fma is so “overrated”, why was it so widely acclaimed throughout its run not only in the west but in japan?? even the 03 version, which 65% filler, was well-beloved and even got a film adaptation way before bhood like

yikes at “the reason why it’s in your top 10”...maybe it’s the inability to come up with any substantial reasons to explain why it doesn’t deserve its acclaim that’s led you to default that everyone must be “bandwagoning”

the irony of this being another “buhhh popular thing is popular so must be bad” when you literally stan one of the big 3...? there’s a reason things are popular and consistently high-ranked and that’s bc they’re GOOD, i can’t believe this is a tough concept to grasp for y’all

fmab (and the source material especially, which i’m sure op hasnt read, considering his inane crusade against manga as a medium) is a classic for a reason, and even if you don’t like it as much as the general population, you cannot deny that.

a common thread of widely acclaimed properties is that they’re accessible (for the most part) and/or technically brilliant. fmab is both of these, and that’s not even the half of its strengths. it is therefore unsurprising so many recognise this & rank it highly.
