People who haven't had complex mental illness during mental illness awareness times are always like "go get help, lolz" not knowing the many layers and complications. Finding a good psychologist/psychiatrist is really difficult and unaffordable, and that's only the FIRST step...

There should be more conversations about how MANY mental health professionals mistreat or reject patients. That needs to stop. I've seen people desperately try to get help, and they're treated so badly by these mental health "professionals" that it kills them.
And then we talk about these things like "yeah that's just a thing that happens." If someone is reaching out for help and they get treated like crap by the person who is supposed to help them, our response shouldn't be so casual. We should all be livid that this is so common.
Next, even if you're fortunate enough to find a good psych you can afford, you might be told you're "treatment resistant."
There can be so many reasons why a patient might be "treatment resistant," it's not a diagnosis on its own. It's complex.
I guess all I'm trying to say is that "getting help" for mental illness is just not as easy as we make it sound. It's not as easy as just asking for help, or just trying harder or something. Getting help isn't even an option for some people.
When talking about mental illness awareness it's important to talk about the lack of true support, and the dangers of unfit doctors/professionals in the field.
