Human body has fat reserves for emergencies. Historically Indian genetic/metabolic makeup didn’t have huge fat reserves… May be due to the types of traditional food or lifestyle. https://twitter.com/Kunthavi5/status/1314072576604295168
Glucose is the primary source for the body to produce ATP, the energy currency (to put it simply), insulin is the main hormone involved in this process. During carb paucity body initiates gluconeogenesis, literally meaning production of glucose from non carb-sources.
This process is energy intensive & produces ketone bodies, which in turn is utilized as fuel. This process involves less insulin and the counter regulatory glucagon. This ratio isn’t favourable for human metabolic system.
The ketone bodies spill into the blood stream throws a spanner into normal kidney excretion-resorbtion of ions causing anionic gap, therefore metabolic acidosis.
Liver is over-worked, kidneys are worked to its maximum capacity. Kidneys normally throw in the towel before the liver does. Also the unfavourable insulin-glucagon ratio is playing havoc with the insulin receptors in the sidelines
So overall you are messing up your metabolic balance. This is an overview of the metabolic processes happening on any given day. If you mess up one thing you are going to upset the whole balance. Eat healthy, do regular exercise, embrace your body type. STOP falling for fad diets
Remember the Rube Goldberg contraption the dwarf Kamal uses in Apoorva Sagodharargal? now imagine you putting that marble (fad diet) and stand go stand where DG stands..... why would you do that?
