The adolescence is a really stage in life because this is where the identity is constructed. Erikson puts this stage between the 12 and 18 years old, although these changes depending on each’s person process. The main struggle are the questions “Who am I?”,
“What do I want to do with my life?” or even “Who I’m supposed to be?” Most adolescents try on many different selves to see which ones fit. According to Erikson there are two ways that we go through this stage, either we end with our identity
or we end up confused about us and about the future.
Peer group identification: Adolescents need a sense of stability that they belong somewhere, because they’re trying to separate from their parents. It gives a sense of identity and a positive self-concept,
and an increased sense of personal autonomy from parents. But usually with this identification comes a pressure, when someone can be pushed into do things that they don’t necessarily want to do.
Peers can serve both positivity and negative functions during this stage. As we discover our identity, we may also discover that we don’t fit into a certain group, or someone can make us think that way. That’s when we come to feel alone.
Usually adolescents think that no one can understand them, and in a way it’s true, no one is going for the exact same thing that they’re going through. As we can find ourselves in a group, we can lose ourselves. This is why the friends during this stage are so important,
they can comfort us and guide us, as we can do the same with them.
Why am I explaining all of this? This is the exact message that we can find in TXT’s lyrics.
Let’s start with Crown.

They’re feeling all these changes that an adolescent goes through; you need to find a new corporal identity. We come to a new body, the body that we used to know is changing, and is something that we’ll never going to get back. We feel different.
There’s a sense of depersonalisation, where you are not really you, everything feels weird and unfamiliar. They metaphorically refer to this as the horns and the wings. These are things that they possess that makes them think that they’re indeed becoming monsters,
but when you find another one with these same problems, they can help you to accept it. They complement each other. But at some point, in the song we can see that these worries are not completely gone, they still worry about fitting in,
and worry that this magic that they created with each other can soon be gone. Even, with the right people around you, little by little they can stop the suffering.
Nap of a star

They realize that the childhood is fading away and together they are entering a new stage of life. The future is unsure. They miss those times so much that the only hope they can find is to have that back in dreams. The magic and the innocence that used to exist
within the childhood is now over, and they have to face other realities. Only, they’re not ready yet, they don’t feel ready. And this is so common, from a day to another you& #39;re supposed to start having responsibilities and knowing who you’re,
when in reality the only thing you want to do is go back and watch cartoons or play with your friends. But those days are over now.

In the MV this scene of Yeonjun breaking his horn is such a powerful metaphor, to an adolescent harming himself (even the trees look like veins). But that’s when he finds comfort in the others, and the star relights, as a symbol that the hope is back.
Run Away

The first verse is a cry for help, he feels alone. People are used to smile because supposedly they should be happy, but putting a smile is like putting a mask where you’re hiding yourself. They use as a metaphor the platform 9 ¾. Because when you’re with your
peer group, it feels like you can go somewhere else. Somewhere where you can be free and don’t need to pretend anymore, the people around you can understand you. Except that if we look closely, they’re begging for each other to stay together, because it’s the only stability
that they have.
And I see fandom as this magic. We’re actually going with them to this magic world, where we can help and support each other. Even if we’re different we have something in common that brings us together and that makes us feel like at home.
Magic Island

I personally feel like we can put this just before CYSM, because is where they manifest, they’re actually scared. Scared of losing each other and that magic that they have created together.
Is just like in Nap of a Star, you’re scared that what you’ve created can be lost forever.
Can’t You See Me

Here we come where what they were so afraid of, becomes a reality. “Friends don’t understand me anymore”. The only thing that used to give you stability is now gone, the magic is gone. This friendship used to bring comfort and happiness,
but now they’re resentful towards each other and also confused about what is going on. You want to be saved by who once saved you, but now they’re the source of the pain. And when looking for them, you’re actually hurting yourself a lot more.
The answer is not there anymore, but you don’t know anywhere else to look at.
In life friendships come and go, and we have to learn to take the good things that we can, and eventually move on. Not because you can’t find the magic there anymore,
doesn’t mean that you’ll never gonna find it.
Even if TXT’s message can be one for the adolescents, everyone can relate to it. There’re two reasons for that. If you’re older and already went to that stage you can remember how it was.
On the other hand, personally I think that our identity changes constantly, we’re moving all the time and with that the sense of us. Who we were a year ago is not the same to who we are now. It does exist an essence within ourselves, but the overall changes. And that’s okay.
With the new DnD references for the next era I thought about something. How the whole purpose is to go on quests and achieve something. Plato says that exact same thing for all people, our souls have to go through a quest in order to go back to the Topus Uranus.
That’s what life is, a quest, and it’s in our responsibility to find our destiny
Thank you for reading through, I’m a psychology student in college and also my first language is not English so sorry for any grammmatical mistakes. These were my interpretations of some of the TXT’s songs, they have another ones like this but I decided to focus on these ones.
