MyPOV - Today's news on IBM creating NewCo for its managed services marks the end of the 'one stop' shop strategy @IBM has made to the IBM as we knew it. #IBMNewCo 1/10

MyPOV - It also shows - it is much easier to move from hardware to services (teaching the elephant to do dance..), than to move from services to software. Tell it to the #OpenSource model vendors. But its @ArvindKrishna 's objective to move to hybrid cloud. #IBMNewCo 2/10

MyPOV - Giving investors choice into which part of @IBM they want to invest is a good move. I expect the parts being more valuable than the whole of IBM - at least at the beginning. #IBMNewCo 3/10

MyPOV - It also makes sense as @IBM is spinning off the less profitable infrastructure services of GTS - and is keeping GBS, which is higher margin. #IBMNewCo 4/10

MyPOV - I see NewCo as a trial balloon - giving @ArvindKrishna a few more years of more profitable @IBM before spinning of GBS as well - with the same logic. #IBMNewCo 6/10

MyPOV - The 'new' @IBM than has software assets (remember WebSphere, Rational, Db2..), hybrid #cloud software ( @Redhat + maybe some IBM), maybe some @IBMWatson in 2nd spring, a lot of #Quantum potential. Maybe even #Power will be there. In short - a Product vendor. #IBMNewCo 7/10

MyPOV - The valuation of new @IBM, spun off Newco (from today) and NewCo2 (= GBS +) will be more valuable for investors. Will give them the chance where to invest. And will give focus to executives and employees as well as customers. Congrats will be in order then. #IBMNewCo 8/10

MyPOV - Last but not least - why now? Take a look at ... buried in the press release - preliminary Q3 earnings. Was this all a 'squirrel'? #IBMNewco 9/10

MyPOV - I have NOT done the math on the many @IBM disinvestments... but IBM - if they make the goal stated above - will be 1.4B short in revenue. Hence the action. Hence the focus. #IBMNewCO 10/10
