We need to go further and limit self-funding and contributions from immediate family members for candidates under the traditional financing program to the same level Fair Elections does.
Weâd have a different councilmember in Ward 2 if the playing field was truly level. https://twitter.com/charlesallen/status/1314018893233520642">https://twitter.com/charlesal...

DC needs wholesale democracy, ethics, and campaign finance reform. We should do big things like RCV, lowering the voting age to 16, and letting green card holders & DACA recipients vote.
We also need clearer ethics guidance, changes to campaign finance, & more.

For example, in most jurisdictions, candidates for state legislature have to file a personal financial disclosure.
In DC, only officeholders have to file them. Councilmembers do so in November, so we donât get to learn about Brooke Pintoâs finances until after the election.

We also need to:

- have social media guidance that strictly separates office from campaign side
- actually enforce election law violations (such as signature fraud)
