CA Prop 24 is confusing. What's the deal? It's not clear what is "weakened", as opponents claim... and it's hard to see what parts of the bill's text they're referring to.
I'm leaning "yes" because (a) I can't verify opponent claims in the measure's text or any related materials, and (b) the measure seems to primarily prevent "sharing" of data, whereas the old law only prevented "selling," which had a narrower meaning.
It seems like the main message of opponents is "too hard to understand" and "we need more time to see how the old law plays out"
And the other main message is that the proposal doesn't do enough... which... once it's on the ballot, and if it doesn't make it harder to make further reforms... seems like a perfect-is-the-enemy-of-the-good argument.
