I kinda loved it?

Haven’t seen it in ages, and I’d never really cared for it.

This time around, it really worked for me. The transfer is gorgeous, Betsy Palmer is creepy as hell, and the whole movie is just a helluva lot of fun.

Gonna keep going.

Now Watching: FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 2

Actually dug the hell out of FRIDAY 2 as well.

Far better pacing than the previous film, some great jumps, and Farmer Jason cuts a pretty terrifying figure at times.

And Ginny is a fantastic Final Girl. If not the greatest, then surely one of the most...*real*?

Now Watching: FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 3 3D (in 2D)

It’s...fine.

Like the characters and the final act is lively enough, but the bulk of the movie feels a little paint by numbers when taking the previous two into account.

That’s probably an absurd criticism for these flicks, but still.

Looking forward to revisiting 4, though.

Maybe my favorite straightforward installment of the series. Looking forward to this revisit.

Still really dig this one.

The most iconic Jason had been up until this point, Tommy’s the coolest monster kid any film ever had, and Crispin Glover will never not be fascinating to me.

And the “He’s killing me!” moment is the scariest, most disturbing moment in the series.

Love Hodder’s Jason here, and the telekinetic showdown in the final act is a blast.

The rest is a bit of a ho-hum, paint-by-numbers shrug of a movie.

FRIDAY THE 13TH PART VIII: JASON TAKES MANHATTAN

Spends far too long on the boat, the kill scenes are mostly pretty dull, and it gets a little trying during its final act.

That said, it was still a pretty fun entry, overall.

I can only imagine what longtime fans must have made of this film when it first came out.

What an utterly insane movie.

Score’s lousy, and it’s often eye-rollingly silly, but it’s never not entertaining.

Now Watching: JASON X

Such a blast, and still one of my favorites in this series. Perfectly nails its comic slasher tone, and the setpieces are so much fun.

Really wish this one had gotten a direct sequel.

I love this gorgeous, goofy movie so much. Pure fun.

Still can’t believe it’s something like twenty-four minutes until the title card and the beginning of the movie proper.

Otherwise? This movie is one of the best horror remakes from an era lousy with them. That it gets so little love completely baffles me.
