Why I have stopped defending Mesut Ozil – A thread
Unai Emery was slated widely for not starting Mesut Ozil after a few disastrous performances from the team. Ozil then tried to marginalize the Arsenal manager. The same thing happened when Freddie took over and the same thing is happening now.
He has now been dropped by three different managers. If you defend Granit Xhaka for being backed by every Arsenal manager, then Mesut’s dropping has to be for pure footballing reasons and not his off-pitch shenanigans.
When Arsenal weren’t doing well last season, the dressing room wasn’t a great place to be and Mesut’s off-pitch antics only worsened the mood around the club. Him taking shots at the manager in the worst season for over 25 years was not classy.
The whole fanbase was over the moon when we signed Mesut Ozil. His technical ability to turn games on its head was ever so welcomed, however, when the club was really in a decline, the heart was not on the sleeve and he put his head down along with the others.
Mesut Ozil is NOT bigger than Arsenal Football Club. He has had a go at the club on many occasions. He used social media to disregard Unai Emery and now he is doing the same to disregard his own football club.
The gunnersaurus tweet was the final nail in the coffin for me. If Mesut wanted to pay his wages, he could have gone to the manager, told him about his intentions and not made it public at all but it doesn’t suit his agenda or whatever it is. Shithousery, just in the wrong place.
And why only Gunnersaurus? Because he is the most visible employee? The other 55 redundant staff members aren’t important? He could have put out a tweet to pay for their wages as well but he didn’t. He didn’t even take the pay cut. Shithousery – just in the wrong place.
At this moment, the harmony is coming back to this football club. After so many years, we have a TEAM helmed by a fantastic manager. The club is on a high after winning two trophies and I, being an Arsenal supporter, have no time for Ozil and his shenanigans.
