HI!! This will be a thread about a game called "The Resistance: Avalon"
the game BTS played in the series "In the SOOP"
I will explain rules with occasional pictures of the cards and other materials in the box
I hope to be as clear as possible
First if all: number of players
From 5 to 10, I personally recommend playing with AT LEAST 7, the game is more fun
These are the boards, you have to select one based on the number of players, that number is written in the left down corner, along with the number of evil characters
Now onto the characters
There are, of course, bad ones and good ones
Top, bad characters, you can recognize them with the RED sign
Bottom, good characters, you can recognize them with the BLUE sign
On the left characters with a role, on the right the ones without a role
The good side has only 2 roles
Merlin and Percival
Merlin knows who the bad guys are
Percival knows who Merlin is

Be careful, there are exceptions but I'll explain with the bad characters
Evil characters
Mordred: his ability is to not be seen by Merlin
Morgana: she shows herself as Merlin to Percival so he doesn't know which one is Merlin and which one is Morgana
Oberon: the other evil characters don't know who he is and viceversa
Assassin: (I'll explain later)
OK SO, EVERY ROLE IS ASSIGNED TO THE PLAYERS
I will give every player these two tokens and also, before the night start, I will select (randomly) a "leader of the mission" with the crown token
the night falls
A selected master (THIS MASTER CAN PLAY!) will say the following sentences (you can vary them)
-"Everyone with your eyes closed and with your hand in a fist in front of you"
-"Evil open your eyes (not Oberon) so you all know each other"
"Evil close your eyes"
+++
-"Merlin open your eyes"
-"Evil(not Mordred)extend your thumb so Merlin can know of you"
-"Merlin close your eyes and evil put down your thumb"
-"Percival open your eyes"
-"Merlin and Morgana extend your thumb"
-"Everyone close your eyes and put down your thumbs"
End of the night
Ok now I selected all the roles in a 10 players game and I placed them randomly
I also chose the leader randomly
Ok now let's get into the real game
We have 5 missions
The numbers (3, 4, 4, 5, 5) are the numbers of players required to go on that mission
The leader will choose the first three people, randomly or not or just with his gut feeling
+++
It's important for the good side to send (or at least hope to send) in a mission ONLY good people
Why? Because the people going on a mission decide if the mission will FAIL or if the mission will have a full SUCCESS
So there will be a voting phase to see if all the players agree+
to send that 3 people on a mission
How do you decide that?
With the tokens every player has (picture)

So, again
Leader choose 3 people (in this case)
Players vote IF they are cool with these 3 people(LEADER CAN SEND THEMSELVES)
You will all reveal your token at the same time
+++
Mission approved if there are more approves (so 6 in this case) than rejects

5/5 is mission rejected.

ATTENTION: IF 5 MISSIONS ARE REJECTED CONSECUTIVELY EVIL SIDE WILL AUTOMATICALLY WIN!
+++
Ok so, let's say the mission got approved
3 people go on a mission
A loyal servant of Arthur (has no role and they are on the good side), Percival and Morgana

THE MASTER will give a pair of these cards face down to every one of these 3 players going on a mission ONLY THEM
This, differently from the other voting phase, will be a secret vote so the selected card will be revealed anonimously with the others

notice how on the success card there are both the evil and the good badge and on the fail one there is only the evil badge
That is because
+++
Evil side can choose what to vote
Good side can only vote success

A mission fails when there is only ONE FAIL*

Of course evil can choose if they wanna be perfectly hidden and put success

So
1. Master gives the cards
2. Players choose one of the two
3. Master turns the cards
++
Results:
THERE IS ONE OR MORE FAIL: mission fails
THERE IS NO FAIL: mission is a success

*the 4th mission when there are 7 or more players requires 2 fails
Example
Let's say I turned the cards and this was the results
I will put the red token on the mission and the leader will be passed clockwise and the next player will choose 4 people to send on a mission
+++
Game ends when 3 missions are all won by the good side or by the evil side

FINALLY
THE ROLE OF THE ASSASSIN

IF the good side won 3 missions the evil side still has ONE POSSIBILITY
TO GUESS THE IDENTITY OF MERLIN
If they guess right, they win

BUT ONLY THE ASSASSIN CAN
+++
TELL THE NAME AT THE END
IF THE OTHER EVIL PLAYERS DO NOT AGREE THE ASSASSIN CAN STILL DO WHATEVER HE WANTS!

SO BE CAREFUL, MERLIN NEEDS TO STAY HIDDEN!
when I'll see the episode I will tell you extra examples with the members to be as clear as possible

Note this: it seems difficult but once you start to play it's the easiest thing on this planet

Also, you will talk
A lot
During and especially AFTER the game, what ifs etc.
Also I'm pretty sure you can find the rules of this game on the internet in english but I swear they seem even more complicated than this
I probably forgot something
I will add the extra rules only if I see they used them in the episode

end of thread, for now
THEY MADE A BIG BIG MESS THEY PLAYED IT WROOOOOONG
OK SO
IN THE EPISODE TECHNICALLY THE GOOD SIDE WON BECAUSE THE FOURTH MISSION REQUIRED 2 FAILS SO IT WAS 3 MISSION WITH SUCCESS

BUT PROBABLY THEY WOULD HAVE LOST ANYWAY BECAUSE JIN SAID HE UNDERSTOOD THAT JUNGKOOK WAS MERLIN

GAAAAAAH
