Airbnb is become unbearably unaffordable with all the fees on top, cleaning fees way way out of hands anytime I have checked.

Does Airbnb have any quality/price control over what hosts charge for cleaning in proportion to nightly costs? Counterpoint: these costs become somewhat more bearable with longer stays.

After reading responses here, it is clear short term rentals for really short term (1-3 nights) in covid era don't make economic sense (their selling point early on), so definitely short weekend getaway from city that STRs were/are best for seem to have become cost-prohibitive.
