We must call his everyday racism out. The white man is “sleepy joe” but the Black woman is a “monster.”
He might as well blatantly tell his viewers her Blackness is synonymous with being a monster because this dog whistle was more of a fog horn. https://twitter.com/atrupar/status/1314186938417655808
After the civil war, newly freed Black people built Black communities such as Greenwood in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the building of HBCUs & election of the first Black U.S. Senators (Hiram Revels and Blanche Bruce). This created White fear of Black people’s growth in power and potential.
Particularly, fearful of political power of Black people could acquire via voting and competition in the labor force. Thus Jim Crow era and efforts to shift the imagery and depiction of Black people being viewed as compliant and submissive servants to savages and brute monsters.
Calling her a “monster” is just more of the same, keeping with the white supremacist coded language and dog whistles. The terminology, from there, began to be used to signal to biological differences— claims Black people were naturally prone to aggression, violence,
Lacking willpower, low impulse control, & prone to emotional outbursts and predisposed cruel and vicious dispositions.
The myth that Black people need white people to manage them, guard resources for them, teach them, etc. was created by white supremacy, borne out of White fear of Black mobility — it is not new and is still VERY present today. It’s everywhere, have a look.
White people have been trying to control & create the Black narrative that suits them for hundreds of years.

Trump is trying to do more of the same to this Black woman depicting her as a “monster” — his racism needs to be called out so this false narrative can be rejected.
The President has created a context where violence against people of color, particularly women of color, who voice dissent is acceptable in civil discourse. It is never acceptable. The normalizing of hate and fear based on a white supremacist ideology is dangerous.
It is linked to the spread of violence both domestically and internationally. It’s important to actively confront racism and other forms of discrimination. It should not be left to those who are the targets of such attacks to address them alone.
