New: Members of an anti-government militia movement were arrested Wednesday night while plotting to kidnap Gretchen Whitmer, the Governor of Michigan. https://twitter.com/gwupoe/status/1314227095560753153
According to the criminal complaint, the defendants conspired to kidnap Whitmer and try her for treason. The defendants, who "complained about the judicial system and the State of Michigan controlling the opening of gyms," are alleged to have taken overt steps in their plot.
The complaint alleges that the group conducted surveillance of Whitmer's vacation home. The details of this case represent the growing threat of the anti-government movement, which has only become more active and violent in the face of the government lockdowns during the COVID-19 pandemic.
