Utah Republican @SenMikeLee: Democracy isn't the objective.

Profit is.

And democracy can thwart that.

Here's a United States Senator, elected by democracy (or whatever the hell passes for it in Utah these days) telling you democracy is bad. Profit, that's what matters.

1/
HIS profit. His liberty. His peace. His prosperity.

Not yours.

According to Senator Mike Lee, democracy is a threat to his liberty, his peace, his prosperity.

YOU shouldn't get a vote.

Meanwhile, this morning Donald Trump phoned into Fox Business for an "interview" with Maria Bartiromo:

Trump, the president of the United States, sworn to uphold its laws and Constitution, demanded that his political enemies be immediately arrested.

3/
Trump: "Unless Bill Barr indicts these people for crimes, the greatest political crime in history of our country, then we'll get little satisfaction ... and that includes Obama and that includes Biden"

4/
This is Trump demanding that his Attorney General, which is for all intents and purposes is Trump himself, indict Joe Biden on some (forgive me) trumped up charge constructed out of moonbeams and conspiracy theories.

5/
This isn't about any alleged "justice."

It's about Trump winning the election because he's the only one running.

6/
Trump ranted for ten minutes about locking up Hillary Clinton on some imagined charge. He's pissed that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo can't seem to find some incriminating Clinton emails that Trump is positive must be there.

7/
Trump hates Hillary Clinton beyond all rationality, and so do his jackbooted followers and they don't even know why.

Bartiromo tried to move on to a new subject and Trump interrupted, shouting, "Why isn't Hillary Clinton being indicted??!"

8/
Trump demanded Obama be locked up and then called Kamala Harris a "communist" and, repeatedly, a "monster." Suggesting that Harris will somehow get rid of Biden -- "He won't make it two months," said Trump -- and take over. The monster.

9/
I have wonder how long before Trump or someone in his circle floats the "stab-in-the-back" theory.

That's what the Nazis called it.

See, German conservatives were convinced that they hadn't actually lost World War I.

10/
Instead, they told Germany they were betrayed, stabbed in the back, by an "unpatriotic populace, the Socialists, Bolsheviks, the Weimar Republic, and especially the Jews."

11/
That's the justification they used when they began rounding all those people up and stripping them of their citizenship.

Compare "stab-in-the-back" to Mike Lee's words. To Trump's this morning, and it doesn't take long to see where this is going.

12/
In the same interview this morning, Trump claims he's back in the White House after his bout with COVID-19 because, and I'm quoting here, he's a "perfect physical specimen."

13/
What kind of government is it when the guy in charge is the only guy on the ballot and everybody else is in prison?

14/
What kind of government is it where those in charge see CITIZENS and democracy as the enemy?

15/
What kind of government is it where the guy in charge claims it's his right because he's some sort of superman?

16/
I suppose you can call that a "Democratic Republic" if you like, if you live in North Korea, or Russia, but it sure as hell isn't supposed to be America.

17/
When people tell you who they are, believe them the first time.
