Privilege is being able to forget that someone in LA has to ride the bus for an hour just to work a six hour shift at Fatburger, and also expecting that person to have read Marx.
Adding on to this, it never fails to surprise me how many people always feel the need to chime in and tell me why Marx is important.

I never said Marx isn't important. I said not to shame working class people for not having read theory. Not sorry, we've been busy surviving.
And OK, so you've read Marx. Have you read the LA Tenants Union Tenant's Rights Handbook? Oh, you've never needed to? Huh.

Have you ever had to read the entire fucking Medi-cal catalog? Also no? Huh.
Final thought: If you're a white dude who's commented on this thread, you're now socially obligated to read Rebecca Solnit's "Men Explain Things to Me."

I don't make the rules. 🤷‍♀️
Footnote:

People asking me "who is saying this to you?" please study the theory of a subtweet lol
And ok, yes. I could have picked another example of the lengths people have to go to in order to make less than $100 a day. I'm aware that people can read on the bus. The point is our time commitment to make ends meet is way higher.
