For those golfers out there. That want to know how to gap, here is a short thread. First, go hit 10 balls per club (remove all bad/shank shots) on a trackman. Get your distances. (I only go to 7 iron here)
Take each carry distance and multiple it by 0.75 and then 0.5 and make it into a new column. 3/4ths is a backswing to 9 o'clock (forward arm parallel to the ground), 1/2 is a backswing to your hip (hands at your hip), always make a full follow thru.
List those yards, club and shot type in smallest to largest order, and boom, you basically have a shot carry distance chart for any range. The beauty is you can use it to determine needed roll out. Need to land it and have it stop, opt for the fuller swing.
Need it to carry and roll out to the back of the green? Use the shortest swing, need it to land before hte green and roll up, opt for the longer club. Do this in excel, then either transfer to phone for course reference, or simply take a photo to use. This really helps <100yd
