Obamacare promise - law would create affordable individual health market

Obamacare fact - There were 54,000 Montanans in the individual market before Obamacare. There are 51,000 Montanans in the individual market today

What happened? “Not enough bailouts said the doctor. Not enough taxpayer subsidies said the nurse. Nonsense said the lady with the alligator purse.” (I’m obviously reading a lot of kids books these days.)

It’s actually pretty simple. Premiums went up so terribly bad that thousands of Montanans who weren’t getting subsidized coverage fled the individual market. Many remain uninsured today. Many others went into Medicaid expansion.
