Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has been on my feed a couple times in the past few days. She’s someone I know very little about past paper; young (for Congress), woman of color, graduated college top of her class, gamer.

For some reason, despite her genuine qualifications for office, I see a lot of people (on Twitter specifically) smear her for having been a bartender.
That’s pretty much it.

This bothers me for a multitude of reasons.
You don’t want this woman voted into the House of Representatives because she held a job outside of politics? Because she made a name and career for herself after having a successful education at a university? Genuinely baffling.

A great example of this appears in this thread.
The same people who spent years demanding that Trump be referred to ONLY as President Trump are on the frontlines trying to deny her title and tell her to get back to her actual, middle class job.

It’s almost as if people forget what the House of Representatives are supposed to be comprised of.
Hint: it’s in the name.
We need MORE working middle class citizens in government to push reform and represent the massive majority of the American population, not less.
